Korea-based SK Telecom will start marketing a smartphone with high specifications but a low price tag, the Luna, in the Korea market on September 4, according to a Korea-based Yonhap report.

The Luna is being launched by Korea-based IT vendor TG & Co. and is manufactured by Taiwan-based handset ODM FIH Mobile, the report said.

The 4G-enabled Luna features a Qualcomm 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801processor, 5.5-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen, 13-megapixel rear camera and a 8-megapixel front camera with 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM.

The Luna, which also sports a metal body, will be available at KRW400,000 (US$338) unlocked, but can also be available at KRW100,000 under SK Telecom's package deals.

The Luna is the first smartphone being launched by a non-mainstream IT vendor in Korea, said the report, adding that the Korea smartphone market is currently dominated by models from top-tier vendors.
