LG Display is forming alliances with China TV vendors for supplying OLED TV panels, which is expected to reach MOU signings in September, according to reports from Korea media.
Skyworth, Konka, Changhong, TCL and Hisense all have plans to mass produce OLED TVs and are expected to receive OLED supply from LG as the panel maker pushes forward with expanding its capacity.
Some of the vendors are even likely to receive all of their supply from LG once the MOU is signed, the report said, adding that LG is expected to provide reduced pricing in order to establish set partners in the industry despite potential losses that may incur from the deal.
Market observers estimate that OLED TV shipments will reach 500,000 in 2015 to make up less than 1% of the overall TV market. |
