Certain existing 4K TVs from Sony will receive HDR support in the fall. Sony has announced it will add HDR to its X850C, X900C, and X910C models soon with a network update. HDR compatibility had previously been announced for the more expensive X930C and X940C models, which begin at $3,799. This update will bring HDR to 4K TVs that start at $1,499.

High Dynamic Range (HDR) is very common on smartphones and it is now becoming more common on televisions. It improves color reproduction and contrast. Just as the industry is generally moving towards 4K content, some 4K HDR content is also arriving.
