Acer is planning to increase its mid-range and high-end notebooks' proportion in overall sales to 40% in 2016, double from 2015. The move is expected to help raise Acer's notebook ASP and the company also expects its sales in 2016 to grow 5% from 2015, according to a Chinese-language Apple Daily report citing Acer's executive as saying.
For 2015, Acer is looking to maintain its notebook sales at the same level as the previous year's with the ratio for the first and second halves reaching 45:55. In the first half of 2015, Acer's ASP dropped 3-5% because Microsoft had been aggressively pushing its Bing project. With the project over, Acer is looking to sell more high-value notebooks and expects its ASP to rise in the second half.
Currently, Acer is mainly placing its resources on US$499 and above models and has reduced its resources on US$169-199 ones.
Acer's mainstream gaming notebook V Nitro accounted for 5% of Acer's sales in the first half of 2015 and the percentage is expected to rise to 10% in the second half. For 2016, the company's Predator and V Nitro notebooks will together account for a double-digit percentage in overall sales. |
