The latest report on smartphone shipments reveals Samsung is winning in the global market and Apple is winning in North America. Counterpoint's latest report for the second quarter of 2015 says Samsung shipped 1 in 5 smartphones globally, with Apple coming in second with 14% of shipments.

Samsung is doing well in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. In North America, it comes in second to Apple. During the quarter, Apple was responsible for 34% of phone shipments in North America and Samsung had 26%.

On the global level, Huawei, Xiaomi, ZTE, and LG come in behind Samsung and Apple.

Counterpoint's report also showed around 75% of phones sold during the quarter were smartphones and 50% of smartphones are LTE capable.
