Current Exynos chipset lineup has only high-end solutions, but not for long. According to new reports, Samsung is preparing mid-range solutions to compete with Qualcomm and allegedly the chipsets in their final stages. Three new Exynos chipsets will be unveiled early next year.
Two of those will be mid-range solutions called Exynos 7650 and Exynos 7880. They have a big.LITTLE configuration of Cortex-A72 and Cortex-A53, but it's unclear how many cores are inside the chips. The CPU is paired with Mali-T860 GPU and both will be built using a 28nm process.
The differences are in a number of cores, clocks and RAM speed. In terms of performance, they should compete with the Snapdragon 620. The third chip is already rumoured in the past, and it is the Exynos 8890. |
