Taiwan-based Phison Electronics and Solid State System (3S), which design and makes controllers for NAND flash memory integrated into products such as flash memory cards and disk drives, have announced slight drops in November 2010 revenues from the previous month.
Phison's revenues slid 8.15% sequentially to NT$2.67 billion (US$88.5 million) in November, which the company attributed to seasonality. Revenues are likely to be dragged down further in December as customers will be conducting annual inventory checks at the end of the month, Phison indicated.
In addition, Phison expressed optimism about NAND flash demand coming from the tablet PC sector in 2011. The segment will likely become one of the major applications for NAND flash memory, Phison said.
Fellow company 3S generated revenues of NT$63 million in November, down 7.35% on month.
