As smartphones continue to rise, tablet shipments keep dropping. IDC's latest report on the tablet market during Q3 2015 confirms sales have dropped for four quarters in a row. During the quarter, there were 48.7 million shipments worldwide, an 11.2% decline from last year's 55.7 million.
The same three companies continue to dominate the tablet market: Apple, Samsung, and Lenovo. Though, the top five companies are only controlling 50.8% of the market now, down from 52.4% in the previous year.
IDC believes tablet sales are continuing their decline because the tablet markets in North America, Western Europe, and Asia are largely mature. |
