Sony's smartphones are known for its waterproof capabilities, great design and battery life, but most importantly by their great camera performance. The new Xperia Z5 series has such great camera performance that even Samsung is considering using the same sensor in the Galaxy S7.

The current Galaxy S6 smartphone uses the company's 16 MP ISOCELL sensor, but Sony's new IMX300 sensor has apparently impressed Samsung so much that plans the ditch the ISOCELL sensor. There could be various variants, one using Samsung and the other using Sony camera sensor, but that could be a problem.

Since the new IMX300 sensor is actually a 25 MP sensor that is scaled down to 23 MP in a 16:9 aspect ratio or 21 MP in a regular 4:3 format, Samsung can't advertise the Galaxy S7 with both 20 and 23 MP sensors.
