Apple normally launches new iPhones in September, but a reliable source has told AppleInsider that the company could launch the iPhone 7 in the summer. With an earlier launch, Apple will leave behind its 12-month upgrade cycle. The only time Apple has left that cycle before was with its delayed release of the iPhone 4s.
This report claims Apple wants to push out the iPhone 7 sooner than usual because there are concerns demand for the iPhone 6s could drop off early. Only a few design changes exist between the iPhone 6 and 6s, so interest in the latter could decrease.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI Securities analyst, also reported recently that Apple would come out with a 4-inch iPhone in the first half of 2016. Given these rumors, it appears Apple is considering some big deviations from its normal cycle. |
