As promised, Qualcomm has finally unveiled its next-gen flagship chipset called Snapdragon 820. The successor to the controversial Snapdragon 810 has been fully detailed, but we probably won't see the first Snapdragon 820-powered devices until early 2016.
The chipset comes with a 64-bit quad-core processor with custom-design Kryo cores. The processor is clocked at up to 2.2 GHz and according to the company is more efficient than the Snapdragon 810 thanks the new 14nm FinFET process. The graphics side is improved with the new Adreno 530 GPU, which was already detailed in the past.
There is a support for up to 28 MP cameras due to new 14-bit dual-ISP Spectra chip.Other specs include an X12LTE modem and advanced tri-band Wi-Fi, UFS 2.0 or eMMC 5.1 flash storage, LPDDR4 1866 MHz dual-channel memory, USB 3.0 and NFC.
The new Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charges the device 38% faster than Quick Charge 2.0 and is four times faster than conventional charging. Also included is support for Snapdragon Sense ID, which is a new security feature. |
