According to Barry Lam, chairman of the Taiwan-based Quanta Computer that assembles the Apple Watch, Apple is currently working on the next-generation Watch device. The Apple Watch 2 is expected to arrive next year, sometime during the second quarter.

The next-gen Watch will arrive slightly later compared to the first Apple Watch. It is expected to perform better and have a larger battery due to thinner display, with the same square design. If the wearable achieves at least the same results as the current smartwatch, then Apple will have a reason to celebrate.
