Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, says the company has no plan to make an iPad-Mac hybrid device, despite what some rumors have claimed. The new iPad Pro with an attached keyboard is likely as close to a Mac laptop as iOS devices will get. Cook said during an interview with The Irish Independent that a tablet-laptop hybrid would not come with the best user experience.

Rather than combine any of its product categories, Cook says Apple knows people tend to use both Mac and iOS devices, which is why it has come out with features that work across the platforms.
