Qualcomm had officially announced the controversial Snapdragon 820 last week. Most of the specifications were in line with previous rumours, meaning you'll get a 64-bit quad-core processor with custom-design Kryo cores, but there are some secrets in a number of cores.
Either the company is working on a completely different chipset, or the architecture design is flexible, but the rumours are now suggesting that an octa-core Snapdragon 820 is in the works. Considering the current Snapdragon 820 is 30% more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 810, four additional cores could bring the chipset at the same level in terms of power consumption. The only thing we are asking ourselves now is if the chip overheats.
The expected release date is in the first half of 2016. |
