Only recently we published an article quoting DigiTimes, which suggested that Sony has plans to develop a mobile chipset. With current financial situation, we were a little bit suspicious and today Sony confirmed our suspicions denying those rumours.

During a recent interview with media outlets in China, Sony's CEO Kazuo Hirai has said once again that there are no plans on selling the smartphone business. He also commented on the in-house SoC, denying that any such plans are underway at the Sony HQ. Hopefully Sony will find a way to become profitable again, since the company reported an operating loss of $12 million for the last quarter.
