Asustek Computer has become the largest vendor for notebooks, DIY motherboards and graphics cards in the Indonesia market, company CEO Jerry Shen has said.
According to IDC, Asustek had a market share of 36% for notebooks in the Indonesia market in first-half 2015, followed by Lenovo with 21% and Acer with 20%.
In the Indonesia market, 12- and 13-inch notebooks are mainstream consumer models, with retail prices ranging from IDR5-8 million (US$364-582). In addition, Asustek has launched gaming notebooks in the Indonesia market, where 15-inch models at about IDR15 million are the best-selling ones.
In addition to notebooks, Asustek is the second largest vendor for smartphones in Indonesia, next to Samsung Electronics only. According to the Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News, Asustek shipped 2.94 million ZenFone smartphones in the Indonesia market in January-September 2015 and expects to ship 1.2 million units in the fourth quarter. Asustek aims to become the largest smartphone vendor in Indonesia in 2017. |
