In an effort to improve its finances, panel maker Sharp is expected to sell technology and patents to China- and India-based panel makers, according to a report from Japan-based Nikkei.
Full details have yet to be revealed but the report indicated that Sharp is expected to sell approximately JPY7 billion (US$57 billion) in large-size TV panel production technology to India-based Sterlite Technologies. China-based panel maker BOE is also expected to purchase various production equipment.
Sharp also has about 600,000 square meters in remaining panel production space at its 10G fab in Sakai, Japan, of which half is expected to be sold to Dawai House Industry, the report said.
Many of the agreements are still in their planning stages and may not be reflected in Sharp's fiscal-year performance ending in March 2016, the report added. |
