While it attempts to improve the performance of its mobile division, Samsung has changed the division's leadership for the first time since 2009. JK Shin, the company's co-CEO, will no longer control that unit, since leadership is transferring to Dongjin Koh. Shin will remain the head of the overall mobile business, but he won't monitor day-to-day operations.
Samsung's smartphone business has seen a drop in profits and market share in the past couple years, but it remains the top smartphone company. Due to saturation and increased competition, however, Samsung's lead has slipped away. |
