Taiwan-based handset maker Pegatron saw its ranking in the global top-10 smartphone manufacturers list drop to eighth place in the third quarter of 2015 from fourth a quarter earlier, affected by orders from Apple, according to data compiled by IDC.
Samsung Electronics retained its title as the world's top smartphone maker, as Foxconn Electronics remained unchanged in second place. However, Inventec saw its position decline from eighth to tenth.
Meanwhile, most China-based smartphone makers saw rankings move up in the third quarter, with Vivo becoming the third largest, followed by Huaqin Telecom at fifth, Oppo at sixth and Wingech at ninth, according to IDC.
Global production of smartphones grew by 6.9% sequentially in the third quarter of 2015 and is expected to remain in the growth track in the fourth quarter, IDC said. |
