The smartphone market has seen its smallest growth ever in 2015, according to a report from IDC. Shipments will be down to single-digit growth this year, partially due to slow sales in the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Western Europe regions. This will be the first year that has seen single-digit growth for smartphones.

IDC says shipments will reach 1.43 billion units this year, an increase of 9.8%. This preliminary report says 81.2% are running Android, 15.8% are on iOS, and 2.2% are running Windows.

iOS' growth is a bit higher than Android's, with 17.3% and 9.5% respectively.

The Middle East and African regions are experiencing the largest growth this year, with around 50% year-over-year growth. Given where the growth now is, the smartphone market will continue growing based on the sale of low-cost handsets.
