According to Japan-based Yomiuri, Toshiba is considering selling its white-goods electronics business (refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines etc.) in order to improve its financials.

The report added that Toshiba has struggled in developing its white electronics business abroad and that its overall profits have been affected by pursuing the business. The report speculated that China-based vendors are likely to be the main contenders for the purchase.

However, reports from Japan-based Sankei have stated Toshiba and Sharp are considering a joint venture to push the two companies' white electronics businesses. Toshiba is still considering both scenarios and in the meantime is aiming to reduce costs for the business.
