Since smartphones and tablets are almost the same in terms of design, manufacturers have turned to other segments such to differentiate from the competition. Since iPhone 5, Apple has been designing its processors and now the company is thinking about doing the same with GPU.

The custom GPU could replace the Imagination's PowerVR graphic units and bring even more profit to the company. If we ignore the profit, since we won't see any price drops, this will allow Apple to further optimize the efficiency and power consumption of its devices.
