In 2016, Apple is rumoured to first release the iPad Air 2 successor, which could come in the first half of 2016. The iPad Air 3 will not feature the new display with 3D Touch support. One of the reasons is the production issues, which can't keep up with demand.

According to Kuo from KGI, the 3D Touch was "one of the most severe production bottlenecks in iPhone 6s supply chain." The exact release date of the Apple iPad Air 3 is unknown except it will arrive in 1H16, and Apple plans to announce a new 4-inch iPhone with high-end specs at around the same time.
