More smartphone and tablet manufacturers are trying to build its own chipsets and other components to use in their products and therefore lower the cost of the device. While some companies have yet to develop their own SoC, others are trying to develop a complete solution.
Huawei has recently released Kirin 950 SoC with Mali T880MP4, which is ARM's GPU chip, but the company has been rumoured to be working on its own GPU, alongside flash memory chips. The company will allegedly be teaming up with one of the industry's leading manufacturers like SK Hynix, Samsung or Micron Technology to have memory chips produced.
With KirinOS, fully custom Kirin SoCs, and flash memory chips, Huawei will have a complete solution to offer to customers. The only question is how well will they perform. |
