BlackBerry did well last quarter with a 12% increase in revenue and while we don't know exactly how well it is going, the BlackBerry Priv smartphone appears to be showing strong sales. John Chen, CEO of BlackBerry, says the "initial 30 days of sales has been quite positive."

Chen wants to avoid overhyping the phone since it was released recently, but it seems like the company's first Android device is doing well on the market.

There were 700,000 phone sales during the quarter and the average sale price increased from $240 to $315. Since the Priv is an expensive handset at $699, it may have been responsible for many of those sales.
