Apple and Ericsson have entered into a patent deal that will see Apple hand over part of its revenue from all mobile sales. This deal will last for a period of seven years and it is estimated Apple will give Ericsson 0.5% of iPad and iPhone revenue. Apple agreed to this deal in order to settle a patent dispute that began in 2012.

The patents in question cover technologies that are required for LTE, GSM, and UMTS. Apple isn't the only company affected by Ericsson's patents, since Samsung entered a similar deal last year.

Apple had tried to fight Ericsson on the amount it would pay and eventually this deal was reached.
