LG's first NUCLUN chipset wasn't quite a success. It had problems staying at the standard speeds due to high operating temperatures, which led to poor performance. The LG NUCLUN 2 reportedly fixes those problems, but the company still doesn't trust it enough to use it in LG G5.
Instead, the successor to the LG V10 will probably be the first smartphone to use the improved NUCLUN 2 system-on-a-chip. The next-gen V10 smartphone is expected to hit shelves in the second half of 2016. There is no information about the new NUCLUN 2 chipset but it's believed to be based on ARM Cortex-A72 and A53 cores, and is manufactured using TSMC's 16nm FinFET process. |
