Huawei has announced that its smartphone shipments has reached over 100 million units so far in 2015, meeting the company's target set for the year and making it the first China-based vendor to reach the 100 million mark in shipment.
Huawei has managed to ramp up its smartphone shipments from three million units in 2010 to over 100 million in 2015, representing a 30-fold increase in the past five years, according to a China-based tech.qq.com report.
Huawei currently accounts for a 15% share in China's smartphone market and is expected to continue expanding its presence by grabbing shares from other vendors, including HTC and Sony Mobile Communications, said the report, citing Kevin Ho, president of Huawei handset business unit.
Huawei currently also ranks as the third largest smartphone vendor globally with a 9% share, Ho said.
To further expand its overseas sales, Huawei plans to market its Huawei Mate 8 and Honor 5X in the US market soon, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report. |
