Taiwan's Macronix International, which makes NOR flash memory and mask ROM chips, saw its revenues decline 32.5% sequentially to NT$5.51 billion (US$187 million) in the fourth quarter of 2010. The figure came below the company's guidance of NT$5.8-6 billion.
Macronix attributed this shortfall to postponed shipments at the request of customers. It did not specify any client names.
Nintendo, reportedly a major ROM client of Macronix, has actually deferred the official launch of its 3DS to the first quarter of 2011.
Macronix' revenues totaled NT$27.56 billion in 2010, up 4.5% from 2009.
In other news, fellow company Winbond Electronics has announced revenues of NT$2.58 billion for December 2010, down 0.3% on month but up 17.1% on year. Winbond specializes in specialty DRAM, mobile RAM and NOR flash.
