Samsung's high-end 8890 chipset will only be used in its flagship Galaxy S7 smartphone, but there could be some changes compared to previous years. For the first time, Samsung might launch a new chipset that will be supplied to other smartphone manufacturers.

Word on the street is that the chipset will be called the Exynos 8870, and will be a less powerful version of the Exynos 8890. For comparison, the chipset scores around 300 points less in Geekbench compared to the Exynos 8890. One of the possible candidates for the chipset is Meizu, which could use the Exynos 8870 in the upcoming Meizu PRO 6 and Meizu PRO 6 mini next year.
