Samsung Electronics plans to roll out 413 million handsets in 2016, a decline of seven million units or 1.6% from the 420 million units it produced in 2015, according to a Korea-based Chosunibo report, citing a company's internal report.

However, the amount of handsets produced in Korea will be reduced by 6% in 2016 as the company will ramp up its production in China, Vietnam, India and Brazil, the report added.

Samsung's handset production hit a record high of 513 million units in 2013 thanks to strong sales of its Galaxy series smartphones, indicated the paper.
