MediaTek has reported consolidated revenues of NT$21.33 billion (US$646.7 million) for January 2016, up 15.2% on month and 22.1% on year.

MediaTek saw its monthly revenues fall below NT$20 billion in December 2015. Revenues totaled NT$61.71 billion in the fourth quarter of 2015, rising 8.3% on quarter, but gross margin slid 4.2pp to 38.5%.

MediaTek's profitability has come under pressure due to falling ASPs of smartphone chips. The company has said it is looking to put increased focus on its high-end product line in 2016 while optimizing its cost structure.

MediaTek estimated previously that the company would post a revenue decrease of 7-15% sequentially in the first quarter of 2016, with gross margin ranging from 37% to 40%.

MediaTek shares closed at NT$205.50 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) on February 15, up NT$5.50 or 2.8%.
