The waiting is finally over! Samsung has officially took off the wraps from its flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. It looks like rumours have been legit as there are almost no new details that we didn't know about, but they still look impressive.

As expected, both smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Samsung's own Exynos 8890 SoC. They have 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage that can be expanded via microSD card slot up to 200 GB. The rear camera has a 12-megapixel sensor with a f/1.7 aperture and a new Dual Pixel technology that makes amazing low-light performance and blazing fast autofocus speed, with OIS and Motion Panorama features.

The Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 577 ppi, while the Edge variant comes with a 5.5-inch display that is curved on both sides.

Both smartphones are thinner than its predecessors, measuring 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9 mm for the Galaxy S7, 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7 mm for the Galaxy S7 Edge. The latter has a slightly bigger 3,600 mAh battery compared to the 3,000 mAh on Galaxy S7.

The rest of the specs include an IP68 rating for waterproof capability, both wired and Wireless Fast Charging (WPC and PMA standards), dual-band Wi-Fi ac, MIMO, Bluetooth v.4.2, ANT+ and support for both NFC and MST. The only bad thing we could find is the "old" USB 2.0 port.

On the software side, it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz user interface that has been improved a lot for the Edge model.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will launch on March 11 and will sell unlocked for $699 and $799, respectively.
