During a special press conference in India, Xiaomi announced their new Redmi Note 3 that will be manufactured in the country as part of the "Make in India" initiative. The handset is priced at INR 9,999 ($150) for the 16 GB model and INR 11,999 ($180) for the 32 GB model.

At first, it will be available through Mi.com and Amazon starting March 9 at 2 PM, while other retailers such as Flipkart and Snapdeal will start selling it at a later date.

The phone has identical specs as the update Redmi Note 3, but there are also some new improvements, including the addition of a fingerprint scanner and a metal body.
