Taiwan's Macronix International, which makes NOR flash memory and mask ROM chips, has announced revenues for January 2011 grew 23.7% sequentially to NT$2.15 billion (US$74 million). However, the figure showed a 3.6% decline compared to the NT$2.23 billion posted in January 2010.
With its major ROM client adjusting the release schedule of its new games console, Macronix saw revenues drop substantially on month in October and November. Revenues bounced back to a growth track in December, but overall sales in the fourth quarter came below the company's guidance.
Macronix has estimated revenues at NT$6.5-6.8 billion in the first quarter of 2011, up 18-23% on quarter.
