Today, ARM and TSMC announced a new partnership that will deliver a 7nm FinFET process technology for future low-power and high-performance SoCs. Although IBM was the first company to develop the 7nm chip, ARM and TSMC want to be the first to deliver such chip to masses.
For comparison, Intel expects to have the first 7 nm processors available in more than 3 years from now. Both companies have worked in the past to develop 16nm and 10nm chips. The latter will arrive sometime around the first quarter of 2017. |
