Phison Electronics, which supplies memory controller ICs as well as NAND flash-based products, saw revenues climb 10.5% on month to NT$2.52 billion (US$87 million) in January 2011, driven by steadily-growing NAND flash chip prices.
Transcend Information, however, reported January revenues slid 8.4% sequentially to NT$2.77 billion. The company manufactures memory modules as well as non-memory products including digital photo frames and portable electronics devices.
NAND flash products accounted for 60.9% of Transcend's total revenues in January, followed by its non-memory product segment with 20.3%. The proportion of DRAM-module sales slid to 18.8% in January from 31.8% in January 2010.
Transcend commented that NAND flash prices will be relatively stable compared to DRAM pricing during the first half of 2011. The company expects its total memory module shipments in the first quarter to remain similar to the levels in the fourth quarter of 2009.
Fellow memory module maker Adata Technology saw revenues decrease 8.8% sequentially to NT$2.8 billion in January 2011. Non-DRAM module products accounted for 66.3% of the company's total revenues in January, compared to less than 50% a year ago.
