As expected, Apple has updated its iPad Pro lineup of tablets with a new 9.7-inch device. The new tablet is called Apple iPad Pro 9.7 and is basically a scaled-down version of the bigger 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Regardless of smaller size, the tablet packs some serious hardware.

The heart of the tablet is Apple's A9X chipset that is paired with M9 co-processor. The tablet comes with a new 9.7-inch Pro Display that is 40% less reflective than iPad Air 2 and has 500 nits of brightness. Apple also used a new True Tone Display technology that consists out of 4-channel ambient light sensors that automatically adjust brightness. Unfortunately, it doesn't come equipped with the 3D Touch, a feature that can be found on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The camera department includes a 12 MP iSight camera that can shoot 4K video, and a 5 MP front camera.

Like its bigger sibling, it has 4-speaker audio that is 2x as loud as iPad Air 2. Customers will be able to purchase the Pro accessories for the iPad Pro, including smart keyboard, Apple pencil and more.
The Apple iPad Pro 9.7-inch is available in 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB variants, priced at $599, $749 and $899, respectively. Customers can choose between four color options, including black, silver, gold and new rose gold. Pre-orders begin on Thursday, March 24, with sales starting on March 31. |
