Apple's update to the iPhone next year may include wireless charging and a new display. Ming-Chi Kuo, a fairly reliable analyst with KGI Securities, says the iPhone 7s will feature a curved AMOLED display, a largely glass casing, and wireless charging capabilities.
This report moves Apple's transition to OLED up by a year, since Kuo had previously said the first iPhone with OLED would arrive in 2018.
AMOLED is superior to LCD because it allows for thinner, lighter displays that'll have an impact on the iPhone's design. They also use less energy, which can positively affect battery life.
Kuo says the iPhone 7s will use a "completely new form factor design" with metal sides and narrow bezels that offer a "more comfortable grip." |
