During its Build conference, which kicked off today, Microsoft announced there are now 270 million devices worldwide powered by Windows 10. Earlier this year in January, that number was only around 200 million and the OS has existed since late July 2015.

Microsoft still has a publicly stated goal of 1 billion active Windows 10 devices within the OS' first three years and it is certainly moving consistently towards that goal. Though, it may see its growth slow down significantly when free upgrades to Windows 10 are no longer available.

Based on this adoption rate, Microsoft's latest desktop OS will likely cross the 400 million mark this year.
