Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell have seen their clients from the enterprise sector aggressively pulling in orders recently, but orders from the consumer sector remain weak, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.
Enterprise users' acceptance of Windows 10 is growing because of the operating system's new security technology. With Microsoft having stopped updating Windows 7 and planning to halt its support for Windows 7 by January 2020, many enterprise users are considering replacing their products with Windows 10 ones for security concerns.
Inventec has also recently pointed out that Intel's new Skylake platform will provide limited momentum to boost consumers' demand for new notebooks, but the enterprise market will continue to enjoy stable growth in 2016.
Acer used to focus mainly on the consumer market but has started expanding its presence in the enterprise market recently. In 2015, 38% of the worldwide notebook revenues were contributed by enterprise models, while in markets such as the US and India, their proportions were over 60% and China nearly 60%.
The sources pointed out that brand vendors that focus mainly on consumer notebooks have seen their downstream retail partners stop placing orders since the Lunar New Year holidays, but orders from enterprise product retailers remain stable. |
