Following months of rumours and leaks, Huawei has officially announced the P9 and P9 Plus smartphones at a dedicated event in London. The main highlights of Huawei's flagship smartphones are dual 12 MP rear with Leica SUMMARIT lenses camera and Kirin 955 chipset.
The smartphones share the same camera and chipset components, along with hybrid dual-SIM support, a fingerprint scanner, metal body and Dual-IC Rapid Charge that charge the phone via USB Type-C port.
The P9 Plus, also rumoured as the P9 Max, comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED 2.5 curved glass display that is pressure sensitive and called Press Touch, 4 GB of RAM/64 GB of storage, a 3,400 mAh battery.
The P9 model has two variants - 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, and the better model with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. It has a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display and a 3,000 mAh battery.
The main advantage over other phones is the dual rear camera system. It has dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with Leica SUMMARIT lenses and 1.25-micron pixels sensors. Thanks to an independent depth measurement chip and proprietary hybrid-focus technology, expect great images. It also support RAW and has full manual control.
The P9 Plus model will be available starting May 20 priced at €749, while the P9 will hit shelves starting April 16 for the 3 GB/32 GB version priced at €599, and April 29 for the 4 GB/64 GB variant, which is priced at €649.
