IT vendor Asustek Computer has reported consolidated revenues of NT$48.57 billion (US$1.48 billion) for March, rising 37.23% on month and 15.30% on year. Its January-March consolidated revenues totaled NT$119.254 billion, falling 10.11% sequentially but growing 6.58% on year.
For own-brand product sales, Asustek generated revenues of NT$45.271 billion for March, increasing 37.6% on month and 17.6% on year, and the January-March sum reached NT$110.05 billion, dipping 11.0% on quarter but rising 7.7% on year.
First-quarter own-brand product sales were higher than expected mainly due to increased China notebook market share and increased notebook demand in the East Europe market, Asustek said, adding its competitiveness in gaming and ultra-thin high-end notebook segments was increasing.
Asustek shipped 4.9 million notebooks, one million tablets, four million smartphones and 500,000 desktops in first-quarter 2016 and aims to ship 20 million notebooks, 5-6 million tablets, 25 million smartphones and 2-4 million desktops in 2016.
Asustek will showcase ZenFone 3, its next-generation smartphone model, at Computex Taipei 2016 during May 31-June 4 and begin shipments in small volumes in June. |
