LG has just announced world's first UHD TV reception chip that enables streaming Ultra HD content without a need for a separate set-top box. It is based on the next-generation broadcast standard ATSC 3.0, which was developed by the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC).
It supports South Korea's terrestrial TV standards and a globally accepted QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) digital transmission standard. The first TVs with this new chip will be showcased in North America's largest exhibition NAB (National Association Broadcasters Show) in Las Vegas next week, from April 16 to April 21. |
