Quanta Computer's notebook shipments grew by 65% on month to reach 3.8 million units in March. Although Quanta expects its second-quarter shipments to see sequential growth, it is not able to predict the extent of growth due to low order visibility.
Other major notebook ODMs, Compal Electronics, Inventec and Wistron, also enjoyed over 30% on-month notebook shipment growths in March.
Thanks to the growth in notebook shipments, Quanta's consolidated revenues for March grew 21.05% on month to reach NT$75.18 billion (US$2.32 billion), but compared to the same month a year ago, the amount still represents a 6.08% decline.
The company has totaled NT$197.36 billion in year-to-date revenues, down 3.82% compared with the same time last year.
Some market watchers pointed out that Apple is preparing to unveil its new 13- and 15-inch ultra-thin notebooks. Although shipment volumes for these devices may be low, their high prices are expected to benefit Quanta's revenues. |
