Asustek Computer is ready to launch its new notebooks soon with Pegatron Technology remaining its major supplier, followed by Quanta Computer, Wistron, BYD and Compal Electronics. However, the order volume to China-based BYD is still small due to its unsatisfactory manufacturing performance, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

Related ODMs declined to comment on their orders and clients.

Asustek is estimated to ship 16-18 million notebooks in 2016 and many ODMs have been looking to land orders from the Taiwan-based vendor, especially orders for gaming notebooks.

Asustek began to outsource notebook orders to China-based maker BYD in early 2016, looking to save costs, but the volume remains low since the maker's manufacturing ability and delivery speed are still unable to meet Asustek's demand, the sources said.
