Last year, Huawei's CEO Richard Yu said that Quad HD displays are a waste of money and the biggest culprit of poor battery life. Now, a few months later, he changed his mind and confirmed that the company is now working on a smartphone with Quad HD display.

According to him, the reason is virtual reality and that many users would prefer a Quad HD display over a 1080p. Since the VR is the next big thing, and Huawei has already released a VR headset, the next step is to release a phone that has Quad HD display.
