HP has a new Chromebook with a nice design that is thinner and lighter than Apple's MacBook Pro. The Chromebook 13, which begins at $499, offers more in the way of performance and design than most Chromebooks. It's only 0.5-inches and weighs 2.86 lbs.

It comes with a 13.3-inch 3200 x 1800 IPS display, an Intel Core M Skylake processor, up to 16 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, and Intel HD Graphics 515. The Chromebook 13 is more like the Chromebook Pixel than other units, but it costs half as much.
With its 45-watt battery, the Chromebook 13 should last 11.5 hours. The device comes with two USB-C 3.1 ports, a full-size USB port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a microSD slot.
There's also an Ethernet-ready docking station that lets you connect it to two HD monitors and accessories like a keyboard and mouse.
HP says the Chromebook 13 will be out by the end of this month.
