With its plans to layoff 11 percent of its workforce and shift its focus from PCs to the cloud, the company has now announced another big move. The low-power and entry-level chips from Atom family won't be available anymore as the Broxton chips have been cancelled.
Intel still has plans to launch the recently announced Apollo Lake platform, but chips codenamed SoFIA and Broxton, for mobile devices, won't be launched. These chips are mainly used in cheap, low-power tablets, notebooks, and 2-in-1 devices, but hopefully Intel will have something other to offer.
