Quanta Computer has reported consolidated revenues of NT$68.18 billion (US$2.1 billion) for April 2016, representing a 9.31% drop on month but a 0.98% increase on year. The company has totaled NT$265.54 billion in year-to-date revenues, down 2.63% compared with the same time last year.

Quanta also announced its first-quarter financial results with consolidated revenues reaching NT$197.36 billion, down 28.3% sequentially and 3.8% on year. The company had net profit of NT$3.62 billion in the quarter, down 26.9% sequentially. Its EPS was NT$0.94.

Quanta shipped 8.45 million notebooks in the first quarter and company vice chairman CC Leung expects the volume to grow more than 10% sequentially in the second quarter, while the shipment ratio for the first and second halves of 2016 will be 45:55.

Quanta shipped 2.9 million notebooks in April, dropping 23.68% on month.

Leung also noted that the company's non-notebook product lines' combined revenue contribution will reach 45-50% in 2016, up from around 30% in previous years.

Some market watchers pointed out that the second-generation Apple Watch and cloud computing server orders are the main drivers helping to boost Quanta's revenues from non-notebook businesses. The new revenue structure is also expected to increase the company's gross margins and profitability.
